1.) PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
A) Composition
Dex-O-Tex Posi-Tred "O" is a slip-retardant coating for
use over concrete floors, stairs, ramps, etc. Posi-Tred "O"
may also be used as the finish coating for Dex-O-Tex
Cheminert or many other Dex-O-Tex composition floors.
Posi-Tred "O" is a three-component material consisting of an
epoxy resin, catalyst, and special metallic oxide
slip-retardant aggregates. The three components are mixed
together immediately prior to application, and the material
is then troweled into place.
Dex-O-Tex Posi-Tred "O" is available in five different
slip-retardant "profiles" ranging from very coarse to very
fine. Very fine profile offers negligible slip resistance
but good cleanability characteristics. Selection of profile
to be used depends upon the degree of slip-retardance
required, the cleaning characteristics desired, and the
finished appearance appropriate for the area of use.
Dex-O-Tex Posi-Tred "O" is available in a range of standard
colors. The material can be applied over concrete (new or
existing), cerammic tiles, metal surfaces or Dex-O-Tex
composition floors.
Formulated with environmental requirements in mind,
Posi-Tred "O" contains no hydrocarbon solvents and thus
meets all volatile organic substance regulations. Posi-Tred
"O" has no significant odor during installation.
As an option, Dex-O-Tex Posi-Tred "O" is available in the
Dexcide series which incorporates anti-microbial chemistry
to control the growth of microorganisms (bacteria, fungi,
etc.) on the floor surface.
Dex-O-Tex Posi-Tred "O" has U.S. Dept. of Agriculture
acceptance for use in federally inspected meat and poultry
plants.
B) Typical Uses
Slip-retardant surfaces for pedestrian use in
manufacturing operations, stairs, ramps, and walkways.
C) Advantages – Limitations
Advantages
1. Can be applied over a wide range of surfaces.
2. No significant odor during installation.
3. Resists most common chemical spillage.
4. Wide range of color and profile selection.
Limitations
1. Temperature during application must be 60°F (18°C) or
greater.
2. Requires functioning vapor barrier beneath on-ground
concrete floor to prevent upwards water vapor transmission
which may result in loosening of epoxy floors or improper
curing of epoxy materials.
3. If sub-surface cracks, material may reflect cracks to
some degree.
